About Us

 

The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group (KBULG) was formed in May 1994 as a community landcare group. KBULG replaced the Goldfields Dust Abatement Committee (GDAC), which operated for over 20 years. The GDAC formed in 1973 in response to severe dust storms that affected the entire Kalgoorlie-Boulder community.

Over time the GDAC changed its focus from a professional body to a community group. Thus KBULG has a broader scope with greater emphasis on community involvement in developing education programs and activities and in promoting community awareness of landcare.

KBULG is one of the first urban landcare groups in an arid area. The group was incorporated in 1996.
