Annual Community Tree Planting Days 2007The Dwyer Street Dam was targeted for the 2007 annual tree planting day. In July 2007, approxiamately 200 people turned in an awesome effort and planted around 3000 trees in a large area. Community response was fantastic with the trees and shrubs planted superbly. A variety of eucalypts, bottle brushes, casuarina's, eremophilas and wattles were planted - all species tolerant of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder climate. The day was worthwhile for both environmental and social reasons. It was fantastic to see the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community come together to do their bit for the environment. The planted areas provide a habitat for birds and wildlife, reduce the local dust problems and provide much needed shade in summer for everyon Community and corporate groups, mining companies, families and individuals joined together for a common cause, working for a better environment. 2007 again saw the running of the highly contested Corporate and Community Challenges, and the Best Costume Competition.
