The Native Plant Group was established in late 2004 by local people to learn about the unique Goldfields flora. This has catered for the people in the community wishing to learn more about Kalgoorlie’s unique flora. KBULG holds the Native Plant Group twice a month on Sunday's at the Karlkurla Community Nursery and participants can learn how to establish a garden, identify, propagate and grow the local plants. The group enables KBULG to donate thousands of plants to local schools and community groups each year.
The Native Plant Group has a once-per-year 2 hour sale to clear out the shadehouse in preparation for the next years seeding, allowing members of the public to purchase local species. All money raised is used to purchase potting mix and fertilisers for the use at the shade house.
The groups’ main aims are to:-
• Learn about Kalgoorlie-Boulder's native plants
• Share and hopefully gain knowledge on the collection, storage, propagation and care of our local natives.
• Increase the number and variety of local native plants grown in local gardens.
• Share any knowledge we have & gain openly.
