In order to achieve the goals, KBULG developed the 1st Work for the Dole Project in the Goldfields which commenced in March 1999. With funding from the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, in the 3 years the Work for Dole participants have been involved in:
- building an octagonal lookout on the main hill with 360 degree views of the surrounding bushland and features
- building a boardwalk across a season creekline where the Karlkurla's grow
- building a shed, shelter and work area
- building a long drop toilet
- constructing 20 jarrah picnic tables
- building a nursery to propagate local native plants with seed collected from in the park
- cultivating a vegetable garden
- erecting plant identification labels with the plants scientific, common and aboriginal names in front of about 50 different plants
- installing interpretive signage as part of KBULG's Centenary of Federation project
- laying the reticulation for an Olympic Landcare Project where 2000 trees and shrubs were planted in the park by 400 community members.
