Annual Community Tree Planting Days 2010

KBULG together with major event sponsors the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder hosted the Annual Community Tree Planting Day at Karlkurla Bushland Park on the 17th of July.

With over 220 people attending this year the community succeeded in planting approximately 4000 native trees and shrubs, all grown locally at the Karlkurla Community Nursery. This year it took over 2.5 hours to complete the planting, a magnificent effort by all.

KBULG would like to thank everyone who turned up on Saturday to do their bit for our environment and our community.

The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder again threw their support behind the event, undertaking all of the site works, including laying reticulation. Without help and cooperation from both the corporate/business and community sectors the day wouldn’t have been possible.

The Community Challenge was won by the Goldfields Scout Groups, boasting over 60 participants.  The scouts powered from one end of the site to the other, planting trees and having fun.

Peter Pan Cafe provided a free sausage sizzle for all the volunteers and Special guest Korker roo entertained the children, giving out lollies and chocolates and planting trees with his band of helpers. Participants were given prizes, which included movie passes to Orana Cinemas, and vouchers for Bunning’s and Video Ezy

The event was proudly sponsored and supported by all of KBULG’s core sponsors:
