KARLKURLA BUSHLAND PARK PROJECT

Centenary of Federation

KBULG held a Centenary of Federation Launch of the Park in September 2001.

The launch was attended by approximately 70 community representatives and 40 local school children. Year 5 students from Kalgoorlie Primary School were a highlight of the launch. Students read poems they had written about their experiences of bushwalking and tree planting in Karlkurla Park. A series of Interpretive Signs around the park's 4km walk trail were developed with funding from WA 2001 Centenary of Federation and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The signage provides an opportunity for self guided walks around Karlkurla Park to learn about the many unique plants and animals found in the Goldfields.

There are 19 full colour interpretive signs along with 35 small identification labels, listing the common, scientific and aboriginal name of different Goldfields plant species.
